The course is designed for:

Newcomers to Business Continuity looking for a solid foundation in the subject of Business Continuity
Individuals with a full or part time role or responsibility that requires an understanding of Business Continuity
Individuals not yet ready to enrol on the Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI) training and examination

Course Objectives

The objectives of this training course are to provide students with the capability to:

Describe the BCM Life-cycle and explain how this creates a robust BCMS programme
Explain the importance of BC Policy and Programme management and how leadership styles affect the design, delivery, benefits and effectiveness of a BCM programme
Describe how to identify prioritised activities, the function of the business impact analysis (BIA) and methodologies for collection of BIA information
Explain the importance of risk analysis and threat assessment methodologies for integrating the BCM programme within the organisations Risk Management framework
Describe the component parts of a BC plan and be able to identify and differentiate between good practice and inadequate plan design
Describe the hierarchical structure of a BCM programme – crisis management plan, incident management plan, BC plan and other overarching plans and how they integrate and support each other
Describe the elements of a comprehensive BCM embedding programme, (training, awareness and culture) and how to integrate this with key departments to ensure an effective BCM programme
Describe how to design and facilitate exercises Understand the key BC roles and responsibilities

Course Description

This course provides the attendee with the basic knowledge and understanding of the building blocks required for developing and maintaining a robust Business Continuity Management programme and provides those individuals with a BC or resilience related role or responsibility with a comprehensive overview of the discipline. This course covers the six stages of the BCM Life-cycle and is based on global good practice as described in the Business Continuity Institute’s Good Practice Guidelines 2018 Edition and the international standard for Business Continuity ISO 22301:2019. It aims to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement a BCM programme and enable them to manage or oversee an existing mature BCM programme and to address any remedial challenges.

Course Methodology

The learning methodology uses a mixture of presentations, discussions, case studies, video content, interactive exercises and knowledge checks to transform participant knowledge into hands-on practice in a safe environment.

Course Accreditation

All students will receive an official certificate of attendance from the Business Continuity Institute (BCI). Completion of this course entitles delegates to 8 CPE/CPD credits.

Course Fees

The course fees include the BCI royalty fees as well as the learning material. The BCI uses data from the World Bank to determine the pricing structure. The course fees are depending on the place of residency/ company registration. Please contact us for pricing details.
